Cyst on Nose

A cyst or acne occurring in nose is common and happens to people at some point. However, cysts on nose tend to be dissimilar to the ones which occur on other body parts. A cyst on nose is mainly caused by an infection on hair follicles found within the nostrils. The infection may occur when there is an imbalance in bacteria, which may be caused by some other underlying factors. Most of the cases of a cyst on nose are harmless, thought at times, they may become painful and cause discomfort. Treatment should be sought in time to help cure the problem.

 

The different between a cyst and pimple occurring on the nose

It is typical to find people using the word “pimple” to refer to a cyst and vise versa, but these two conditions are different. On the flip side, a cyst is much deeper than the typical pimple.

 

A cyst consists of a closed sac-like structure or capsule, which can be filled with some semisolid materials, liquid, or gaseous material. Cysts can be caused by several things including infections, genetic aspects and others risk factors are pinned on the related cause of the cyst formation. Many cysts tend to be asymptomatic or with no signs but others, occurring on skin, palpable organs, and mucous membrane can be felt as a bump or lump that could be painful.

 

At other times, cysts may create symptoms that are associated with organs where they are situated such as kidneys, liver, or pancreas. Most cysts don’t require treatment but doctors can treat or removal them using surgical procedures or needle aspiration.

 

Most cysts aren’t preventable except when they are caused by things like infections. When a cyst fills up with pus, it is regarded an abscess and not a cyst. Cysts that are causing swollen hair follicles tend to be caused by rupturing of the sebaceous gland and the typical culprits associated with such raptures are skin disorders that cause inflammation such as acne.

 

Causes of cyst on nose

Several factors may cause cysts on nose. Some people will develop a cyst as a symptom of some changes occurring in the reproductive system or cardiovascular system. Sometimes, picking in the nose can lead to scratches on skin, which could trigger an inflammation that turns to a cyst. An oily skin makes some people to be more susceptible to formation of cysts while those with dry skin tend to have less risk of developing cysts. Depending on the type of cyst, its size may vary, but the growth of the cyst could easily be checked if treatment of the affliction is done in time.

 

What are the symptoms of a cyst on nose?

The symptoms of a cyst on nose could vary from a person to another. However, in most of the cases, a cyst is marked by inflammation or redness of skin. Itching, dryness, burning, and stinging sensation accompany a cyst on nose. At times, some people may complain of having small red spots on skin prior to the cyst developing.

 

When the symptoms are properly identified and treatment sought at the right time, it is possible to check back that kind of cyst formation on nose. When a cyst occurring on nose is not treated in time, the infection could worsen with time making it difficult to treat and by the time, the treatment is completed, the cyst may leave some unsightly marks.

 

Treatment of cyst on nose

Cysts do not cause pain, though when they rapture or they are infected and inflamed, they may cause pain. Most cysts do not go away on their own, meaning that treatment may be needed to remove them. Some cysts may be drained to help relieve symptoms by piercing them with a scalpel; however, this procedure does not cure the cyst. Some other times, an injection using cortisone medication may be done to help shrink the cyst. When cysts fail to respond to other treatments, or they tend to reoccur, and they may be surgically removed. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, placing a warm, moist cloth over nose could help drain the cyst.

 

Over the counter medications may be used to help reduce the size of the cyst in nose. People with cysts should avoid touching, squeezing or pinching the nose as this could cause the cyst to leave a scar when it heals, though many cysts won’t disappear, anyway!
